I took this picture from outside of a protest about police brutality. This picture symbolizes the top two oppressors in America. This ties into my theme of history that is not spoken about often enough. The police department is the authority figure in society. The "KKK" spray painted on the police car symbolizes the basis of white supremacy and white privilege in America based on its history. During the civil rights era, protests and riots were far too common. Protesting is a way of communicating the injustices of society and making them publicly known whether it is through marching, rioting, or looting.
